Harut Arutyunyan Wins $576,369 Comments Off on Harut Arutyunyan Wins $576,369

Harut Arutyunyan WinsBeating all other players over six days of poker, Harut Arutyunyan won the WTP Legends of Poker tournament and the prize money that came with it – a staggering sum of $576,369. The fact that this was the first major win for Arutyunyan after having earned not much from his previous plays makes this news even more interesting.

The tournament

The event was in Los Angeles, at the Bicycle Casino, and the player pool as well as the crowd were good. A buy-in of $3500 for the main event made way for a very lucrative prize pool.

It was not as if Harut Arutyunyan won because there were no big names at the event.

Seasoned players David Chiu, Ryan Reiss, Andy Fankenberger, and others were at the event. In fact, the final table consisted of players such as Taylor McFarland, Tyler Kenney and others. However, it was Mike Eskandari who lasted until the end along with Arutyunyan. It was head to head as the game was just between these two and lasted really long. Even though Eskandari had the lead at first, which he lost and gained and so on, it was Arutyunyan who had the winning hand in the end.

The prizes

Along with the huge sum Harut Arutyunyan won for winning the main event, his win automatically gave him a place in another WTP event happening in Atlantic City. Of course, there were other prizes such as a watch and gold headphones and a trophy from Bicycle Casino. Then, there was also the WTP trophy that he won for this event.

However, the sweetest of all, other than the prize money of course, was the engraving of his name on the Champions Cup of WTP. This cup has names of all the winners from the past championships and now, Harut Arutyunyan joins their ranks, as well.

Blackjack Payout Changes at Two Las Vegas Casinos Comments Off on Blackjack Payout Changes at Two Las Vegas Casinos

Blackjack payoutTwo Las Vegas casinos have decided to enact a few subtle changes to their blackjack payout rules. These casinos are the Venetian and the Palazzo, both famous for attracting blackjack players from around the world. Here is a brief overview of regular blackjack payout rules and the changes made by these casinos.

Regular Payout Rules:

In blackjack, the objective is to get to 21 as quickly as possible. If the player gets there before the dealer, they win. If either the player or the dealer gets more than 21, the other party wins. In regular blackjack circumstances, the player gets a one to one payout. For example, if you bet a $100 chip and you win, you are left with two $100 chips.

The rule change is for players who get a natural blackjack. This means that their first two cards are a 10 and A. This adds up to 21, which is a blackjack. Under regular rules, players get a 3/2 payout when they win in this manner. So if they had $100 bet on the hand, they win $150. However, these two casinos have changed the circumstances to a 6/5 payout. Thus, a player betting $100 and winning through a natural blackjack would only win $120.

Hurting Blackjack Players:

This rule change will hurt the bottom line for blackjack players, while adding to casino profits. By paying out at 6/5 instead of 3/2 on natural blackjacks, casinos will save a lot of money. A natural blackjack may seem rare, but it is actually a common occurrence. One out of every 20 hands will result in a natural blackjack.

Casinos have a house edge at blackjack regardless of these rule changes. Typically, there is a 0.4% house edge when playing against a player who uses flawless blackjack techniques. By employing the 6/5 payout method for natural blackjacks, the edge increases to 1.7%. Despite the rule change being downplayed by the Venetian and Palazzo, this is a dramatic shift of the odds in favor of casinos.

Chinese Blackjack Players Plan Australian Get-Aways As Development of Crown Casino Continues Comments Off on Chinese Blackjack Players Plan Australian Get-Aways As Development of Crown Casino Continues

Blackjack playersAll year long casino lovers and whales have been keeping an eye on some big names which have been in the process of developing new casinos. While there are several casino and resort locations opening up in the next few years throughout the world, one of the biggest and most highly anticipated is the Queensland based Crown Casino and Entertainment Complex.

Part of the reason this resort is being so heavily anticipated is the scenic location in what many across the globe view as an exciting vacation destination. With its location on gorgeous river front property, the casino holds an aesthetic value that others in more land-locked locations such as Las Vegas, USA cannot.

While the beauty of the location is one element going for it, a room with a view does not a great casino make. The real element that it has going for it is the range of games and intensity of stakes it will offer. With blackjack games for everyone from the novice player looking for a fun story to tell about a vacation, to high-bidding whales, the casino is going to cater to tastes and nerves of every caliber. With the resort side providing an element of high-class escape from the rest of the world, it’s sure to bring in long-term visitors, as well.

As the news has continued to cover the developments of the Crown Casino, it has already made quite a name for itself. It’s not only consistently listed as one of the top – if not the top – gaming location to watch, but it’s also started what many people believe will be a catching trend of casino licensing in Queensland, Australia. Because it is currently one of the few high-end resort and casino locations of its kind in Queensland, it has created a bit of a monopoly on gambling in Australia, particularly in that area. With more and more people watching it, the government is expected to issue licenses to new and similar establishments. And as that continues to happen, the already increased bookings of flights to Australia is expected to climb even higher. At the end of the day, it seems that the popularity of the Crown Casino might just have provided Australia with an important key to its potential for economic success!

San Diego Poker Syndicate: An Overview Comments Off on San Diego Poker Syndicate: An Overview

The San Diego poker syndicate is a gaming community that conducts poker game series periodically. The winner of the series gets to participate in the prestigious World Series of Poker (WSOP)tournament. Everybody can take part in the series conducted by the syndicate, regardless of whether they’re a beginner in the game or an expert.

The syndicate’s poker seriesPoker

The syndicate hosted it’s ninth poker series this year, and the winner of the series was Jacob Beck, who played smashingly well and moved on to play in the WSOP tournament.

The syndicate is popular for conducting the well-known series with the strictest of regulations. A tournament can have up to 70 players. The main rule of the game is that all players who want to compete in the WSOP tournament must participate in at least five games. When they do it, they receive their shares from the syndicate.

The series consists of a total of twenty tournaments. When the tournaments come to an end, each player’s individual score is calculated by adding his/her twelve best scores out of twenty. The player who earns the highest overall score is declared the winner of the series, and gets a $10,000 entry to the WSOP. The player also wins a cash prize of $500.

Something for everyone

The players who come in the next 8-9 places in the series aren’t left out of the main game; they get a WSOP tournament entry of $1,500 to $2,500. These players win a guaranteed cash award of $250 each. The rest of the players in the syndicate series who finish within the Top 22 get to compete in another game conducted by the syndicate, where they can win a $1,500 or a $1,000 entry into the main tournament. Even the players who are just participating in the series have the chances of winning several bonus prizes.

If nothing, you at least get an opportunity to meet several big poker names in the industry by just participating in the syndicate.

Actor Ben Affleck’s Poker Addiction Is Destroying His Marriage Comments Off on Actor Ben Affleck’s Poker Addiction Is Destroying His Marriage

Problem gambling has been in the news a lot lately. From Queensland, Australia to Toronto, Canada, there have been many public and heated debates over gambling in every aspect. Whether the topic was Fixed Odd Betting Machines in London or the widespread global incorporation of mobile app-like games turning ordinary housewives into online gaming addicts, the media at large has had no shortage of stories about gambling and betting to report. poker addiction

America has its own spotlight story about problem gambling right now. The big feature on everybody’s computers and newspapers is Ben Affleck’s seeming downward spiral in regards to his gambling addiction. As with most addicts, the actor – who is set to star in the upcoming 2016 blockbuster Batman film – has not copped to having a problem. It was his wife, the equally high profile actress Jennifer Garner, who blew the whistle.

It all started to unravel when Ben and Jennifer were supposed to be enjoying some alone time on a vacation in Vegas before he started filming for Batman. During their trip, he was caught card counting at Hard Rock Casino, and subsequently banned from playing blackjack there. He was, as the casino owner reported, allowed to continue playing other games at their establishment.

Now, it seems, the high profile case has taken an international turn. Not only has Affleck been booted from Vegas casinos for his card counting, but recently he was asked by security to leave a Canadian establishment for the same reasons. The movie star was reportedly undertaking his advantage betting tactics of morally questionable proportions at the Caesar Windsor Hotel in Ontario, Canada when he was asked to leave. It seems that his wife has had it with his gambling habit, and she has no problem with telling the media as much.

Since the allegations have begun to fly, Garner has been more vocal about her concerns over Affleck’s addiction. She sees that he needs help, and she doesn’t trust him when he gambles. In a statement that was picked up by celebrity gossip guru Perez Hilton, a friend of the couple said “Jen demanded to go to Vegas with Ben because she doesn’t trust him and he felt like he had no choice but to take her….. Once Ben starts gambling, he can’t stop.”

Ami BarerOn Sunday, Feb. 9, Ami Barer prevailed at the AU$10,600-buyin (about US$9,560) Main Event of the Aussie Millions tournament series, winning AU$1.6 million (approximately US$1.44 million). This was his first major live tournament victory, and the 22-year-old Vancouverite became the first Canadian to win in the 16 years that the Aussie Millions has been running.

About the Aussie Millions

This year’s Aussie Millions series was held at the Crown in Melbourne, Australia. The Aussie Millions is one of the most popular annual live poker series, and it draws competent poker players from around the world. The 2014 series contained 20 events running from Jan. 23 to Feb. 10. The Main Event attracted 668 players. It began on Feb. 2, and the final table was ready to play on Feb. 9.

Final Table Action

The seven-player final table contained a couple of big names. Besides Barer, who entered the table as the chip leader, fellow Canadian Sorel Mizzi was present, having previously finished third in the 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event. World Series of Poker bracelet winner Scott Seiver was another tough competitor that Ami Barer had to get through.

Eventually, the tournament boiled down to the two Canadians, Barer and Mizzi, squaring off against each other for the championship. Barer began the heads-up match with a 2:1 chip lead, and Sorel Mizzi was unable to close the gap. After less than an hour, the final hand was dealt. Barer raised preflop, and Mizzi three-bet his remaining chips all-in. Barer made an instant call and revealed the A♥A♠. Mizzi was behind with just the Q♦8♦. The board was an irrelevant 2♣K♠2♥3♥A♦, and Sorel Mizzi was knocked out in second place, winning AU$1 million (about US$900,000).

PokerTracking sessions and opponents’ tendencies is a necessary part of improvement for any poker player. Developer Alessandro Roaro has released Poker Notes Live, a free app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch that can be used to record poker notes in a live game. The app accepts input of a great deal of information, including player names, chip counts, plays, and tendencies, as well as your own buy in, win/loss, and other useful statistics.

The user interface should look familiar to anyone who’s played a game of online poker. After selecting a theme for your table and choosing your seat, you can then place up to 8 other players and input their names, chip counts, and a picture. The app can also track win percentages and hands played percentages for each player.

The usefulness of this app and the plethora of information it retains is tempered by several factors. All note taking is done manually, which can be tedious on the iPhone or iPod touch. Also, the Premium version of the app is required to keep a database of your notes and player histories, and it costs $9.99 on the iTunes Store. Without it, you’ll lose all your notes when you start a new table. A few more differences between the free and Premium versions are in this review. Finally, there is the overwhelming caveat that phones are typically not allowed at poker tables in most card rooms. Since mp3 players are usually okay, some casino staff might be willing to let the iPod touch version slide, but it seems as though this app will be best suited for home games and informal gatherings.

SkrillAre you considering playing poker on the Lock Poker platform? That is all fine and well, but you need to consider the fact that the site has suspended its acceptance of Skrill payments.

Skrill Suspended

The poker website has said that it is suspending this type of deposit so that it may focus in on clearly up some of the issues that certain players have had with getting their withdrawals resolved. Players are suspended from depositing via Skrill onto the site, but they are still allowed to withdrawal their money via this method for the time being.

What Is Skrill?

Skrill is an online payment processor that operates within Europe. It helps European customers get their money onto these and other types of sites. A spokesperson from Skrill has confirmed though that the company will no longer be in operations with Lock Poker other than processing withdrawal requests made by players looking to get their money.

Not Uncommon

It is something that various poker sites do from time to time. They either change their policy or make other adjustments in order to change the way they accept deposits and process withdrawals. It is not entirely uncommon for a poker website to suspend or even eliminate certain ways of depositing money onto their site.

Lock Poker Under Fire

Lock Poker has been under fire from customers complaining that they are not being treated fairly by the site because the site is taking a long time to process their payments. Thus, it appears that the site has decided to stop accepting deposits via this method to have one less thing to worry about while they focus in on processing the payouts that they are supposed to be getting to. Is this actually what Lock Poker has in mind? That is impossible to say. Hopefully the company will be true to their word and actually work on getting payouts done, but that is anyone’s guess at this point.

Only time will tell if Lock Poker cleans up its act, but for now players will not be able to deposit via Skrill.
